Tank damage is only one piece of the tanking puzzle, and that is all a Tank DPS sim can offer.įor maximizing your defenses, item level is generally the highest priority, then focus on itemization. Damage intake is not something that can be reliably modeled on a fight-by-fight basis, and anyone who says otherwise is lying! The best way to know what piece of gear is best for you is to sim yourself, but tank simulations give an incomplete picture. A 10 item level upgrade to bracers will provide less stat budget than a 10 item level upgrade to a weapon or pants, for example. It's worth noting that item level is generally worth more than secondary stat itemization, but it depends on the piece, as well. In Dragonflight, you should aim for the following stat priority: #1 overall, slightly ahead of Critical Strike.Sim yourself to be sure if you're trying to maximize your damage (and why wouldn't you be?). Because Versatility is generally harder to find on gear than Critical Strike, it is typically a better option for gems and enchants. It is a very strong stat, valued just slightly ahead of Critical Strike. Versatility: An excellent damage and damage reduction stat. Mastery is a good stat, but you will want to prioritize Versatility and Critical Strike ahead of it. Despite those limitations, it is the strongest effective damage reduction stat against autoattacks. Second, and more important, it does nothing to reduce damage that cannot be dodged. First, Blackout Kick can push stacks over the hard cap, resulting in wasted avoidance. It has two major shortcomings that make it a second-tier stat option. It is a decent, reliable offensive boost as well, about on par with Haste. Mastery: Functions more or less like Dodge chance. Its value is slightly higher in AoE than single target. This is great! Haste is usually the lowest-value stat, but not by a huge margin. The up-to-10% Haste provided by High Tolerance acts as a multiplier to your current Haste value rather than an additive boost. While Haste doesn't become good, it is a decent stat once you have that bonus. Talenting into Stormstout's Last Keg effectively eliminates all concerns regarding those two breakpoints. 14.3% Haste is required to reduce the cooldown of Keg Smash to 7 seconds (33.4% to reduce the cooldown to 6 seconds). Haste: Increases Energy generation and reduces the cooldown of Keg Smash.
